Door & timber piling = table
What does a door serve for? It opens or closes the passage between two rooms. What is a floor? An area to move on or rest (not moving). What should a good table accomplish? To invite you to stay. You linger at a table or you discuss with others. You eat, become full, read, write and work on it. You think. You negotiate, argues, shout and remain silent. Time goes bye. Your counterpart leans over. Your get right with each other. A riddle has been solved, your reward is a kiss. The table carries your burden without complaints, yet it appears slim and light - almost pending. That´s how I wanted it to be.
L 196 x D 64 x H 77 cm (Highth +/- 2 cm). Top: spruce door (thickness: 35 mm) and remains of spruce piling (thickness: 23 mm) from a house built in 1950 that got demolished. In the middle a copper sheet (2 mm). Rack: steel rod, 30 x 30 x 3 mm. Feet adjustable.
Safe 1 (Night table)
Who really needs a table at night? Maybe the clock, but it might just stand elsewhere. Wherever something can be grabbed shady figures most likely sneak around. But it doesn´t matter where you hide your most valuable things. Every safe can be cracked. Safe 1 satirises the general delusion with security. For only on thing is for sure: nothing is secure!
